Woke up to rain so we slept in a bit – Mary and Cotty went kayaking and exploring the closest tiny island to our anchorage off of Russell Island. They claim they saw bear and moose poop and also signs of wild strawberries (too early in the season to pick 🙁
Here is the photo evidence 😀
That is Cotty and Mary on the island – my view from the boat.
Oyster catchers – so many different birds here in the park!
This tiny island is hiding at least one bear and one moose!
Morning kayaks in still waters are the best 😀
experimental iPhone pic through binoculars shot 😀 of sleeping mama and baby otters
nicer shots with Mary’s sweet new lens 😉
our first time using the skiff with the motor 😀
that is Canada right over there 😀
team Xtratuff 😀 the perfect footwear for this adventure! Mary’s sweet sand anchor in action.
if you look carefully over Cotty’s left shoulder and under his arm you can see a huge piece of glacier calving as he jumps up and back down.
nothing exciting happened when I jumped – I am wearing all of my clothes and some of Cotty’s – lol
In this photo Cotty has his mouth open and is catching drips of melting glacier
Here is Cotty sliding down part of the dirty glacier – it was not as slippery as he had hoped – lol
the joy of having the right footwear for the job 🙂
clean skiff now muddy 🙁
After dinner Mary and Cotty went off adventuring in the skiff and found:
More bear poop – sadly no pic 🙁
Glacier at night
cocktails – mine is a Sol Duc (custom cocktail) and YUMMY dinner 😀
that is glacier ice from an iceberg in my cocktail!
Breakfast – banana pancake – with (last of fresh) blueberries and peach compote
Lunch – Halibut Ceviche with (shipwreck (leftovers)) and salad
Dinner – Mary made yummy baked Halibut with austere mushrooms and sauce on a bed of sea asparagus and zucchini with cashews and figs – brown rice on the side YUMMY
