Early morning - we say goodbye to the mansion and head for the Garden Cafe one last time - I had a yummy smoothie and get a delicious iced coffee to go (after some effort). Then we walk to catch the chicken bus to Rivas. We met a Spanish girl from Madrid who had been traveling for 18months - she was helpful getting the right deal on the Taxi from Rivas to the ferry. Ferry was crowded and playing telenovelas.IMG 4855IMG 4980IMG 4859IMG 4861Ometepe is an island in a giant lake - it has two volcanos on it :)We were picked up at the ferry by a taxi that we shared with our new friend Bea. Eventually on after driving which felt like ages on the bumpiest of dirt roads we made it to Finca Mystica. We decided to have lunch (very yummy and massive) and right after we jumped on horses (for 3hrs) to ride up a mountain to see a waterfall. My horse was named Oro (gold) and Dar’s was called Colibrí (hummingbird). Our guide was named Aysir.IMG 4862IMG 4864IMG 5001IMG 5005IMG 5074IMG 5103IMG 5106IMG 5111IMG 5114IMG 5137IMG 5142IMG 5153IMG 5191IMG 5215IMG 5228IMG 5252IMG 5281Can you spot what is interesting about this tree?IMG 5275Pro tip: if you don’t ride horses regularly you may not want to start with a 3 hr trip after a decade long break ;) oucheeeeWe had the most delicious dinner - this coconut/lime chicken soup - monstrous portion. This cute baby (Sorrel) was handed to me in the morning - I managed to enjoy my delicious smoothy as well as this cutie pie.IMG 5285this is the view out the door to our cute room.IMG 5296After breakfast we hired a taxi for the day to take us around the island (our driver was named Minor)- it was a truck so we got to stand up in the back and be outside.IMG 5310IMG 5307Frist stop Charco VerdeIMG 5480IMG 5479how about this tree?IMG 5327IMG 5320IMG 5333there was a cool butterfly enclosure :) beautiful blue butterflies!IMG 5380IMG 5383here they are waiting to become butterflies :DIMG 5347Next stop Oja de Agua - for some cocoloco and swimming fun :D Dar in her natural element.IMG 5400IMG 5423the a pit stop for some lunch - I ended up eating the other half of my lunch from the Day before.IMG 5492IMG 5441IMG 5445El Pital by far my favourite spot we visitedIMG 5501IMG 5512IMG 5462IMG 5464this craziness is vegan ice cream with fruit a chocolate ball and warm chocolate - it looks like a volcano :D soooooo yummyIMG 5517IMG 5522IMG 5532headed back for dinner - I had the second 1/2 of my dinner from the night before it was still jut as yummy :DIMG 5551IMG 5579We chatted with some of the other guest and also the staff (Ryan the owner, Victor and Orbin)- we even played a couple of games of bananagrams :D
