From Peñíscola to Barcelona
This is what our road trip office setup looks like! :D Not your typical workspace, but it gets the job done.
The hilltops around here are dotted with fascinating, crumbling fortress-like relics—silent sentinels from the past that add a mysterious charm to the landscape.
Peñíscola was such a cool stop—turns out, parts of Game of Thrones were filmed here! This historic walled city has roots dating back to the Iberians and later became a key stronghold for the Knights Templar. You can spot the Gnu in action, bravely navigating the tight, winding streets and even squeezing through a narrow tunnel. On the other side, we’re pretty sure someone recognized our plates, but honestly, the driving required all our focus!
We made a brief stop in Tarragona to check out this incredible Roman amphitheatre. Built in the 2nd century AD, it once held up to 15,000 spectators for gladiator fights and public spectacles. It’s amazing to see such a well-preserved slice of ancient history perched right beside the sea.
Sliding—quite literally—into Barcelona! A playful entrance to a city bursting with energy, colour, and creativity at every turn.
Attempted to capture the magic of the morning sunrise while cruising down the road—might not be perfect, but you get the idea. Haha!
Our time in Barcelona was short, but we packed in a lot—and wow, Gaudí never disappoints. One of the highlights, of course, was the iconic Sagrada Família. Construction on this architectural wonder began in 1882 and it’s still not finished! With its intricate design and ongoing craftsmanship, it’s one of the longest-running building projects in history. Fingers crossed it’ll be completed by 2032, just in time for the centenary of Gaudí’s death. Until next time, Barcelona—we’ll be back (hopefully to see it finished)!
