Nicaragua in ten days - Days 1 & 2 - Laguna de Apoyo - Feb 12-22 2018
Another Dar Judi adventure :)Wow it’s early - we Über to the airport and are pleased with how smoothly we navigate security and boarding. We even have front row seats on the plane. All is great until we get a third person beside us - what a character! He makes sure to let us know he is gay and jewish and he proceeds to put on an impressive collection of jewellery. He is very chatty and demanding of the flight attendants. Eventually I move over to the empty window seat across from us. To knit and enjoy the view.Anyone know where this is? As seen from the plane :)getting closerArrived - this is Carlos our lovely taxi driver.Managua -> Laguna de Apoyo - with a brief stop at a grocery store to gather supplies :Dthe German to Spanish is only mildly helpful mostly confusing - it’s shocking how good my French is suddenly. This is our Air bnb Casa BellaThis is a lake in a volcanic crater it has thermal springs so it’s warm :DBella makes these really cool hanging chairs to help keep locals employed and also many of her products use repurposed items. This is a very unfriendly looking tree - I did not hug it.Our dinner the first night was at the air bnb next door Casa Marimba run by Iban and Rafael from France. Dinner was red snapper stuffed with salsa, rice, salad and a trio of yummy dips: pesto x2, hummus, and baba ganoush - also homemade bread. YUM!Day 2 morning photo shootI did not feel great the next morning - (fighting a cough and trying to recover from the worst Thai food ever in Ottawa) thus I opted to sleep more while Dar went on a bicycle mission. She navigated a bike with two different wheels (one road and one mountain) on bumpy/dirt roads and met new friendsHeather and Jason from Coeur D'alene Idaho :DWe went for a swim in the lake and then we had to get help (from Iban and Rafael) to organize the evenings adventure as the internet was down - we used a good old fashioned land line to solve the problem :)All organized - Carlos picked up our new friends and then us and we were off on adventure!everybody jumps :D then Judi leaves her bag behind - but it all turns out okay :)after years of practice Dar and I have our jump timing nailed :Dwaiting to get into the volcano parkroadies:)As seen at the Volcano museum :DHere it is!!team volcano shot!the darker it got the more you could see. After this we went into Masaya for dinner - Carlos took us to a nice place and joined us as well!
