Cascais, Sintra and Lovely Lisbon

Popped over to Cascais to check out yet another epic hole-in-the-rock formation—this coastline just keeps on delivering!

First—and quite possibly last—outing for these adorable red shoes. Haha, they looked cute but didn’t exactly love the adventure!

Another Gnu milestone! :D But that trapped dust drives me absolutely crazy—some battles on the road are small but mighty!

We tried to make it up to the hilltop castle, but the police had other plans—no entry today. Major boo!

Hard to capture in photos, but Sintra truly felt magical. With its lush hills, whimsical palaces, and centuries of history tucked into every corner, it’s no wonder this fairytale town is so enchanting.

Spotted Lisbon’s enormous and awe-inspiring Águas Livres Aqueduct! Built in the 18th century to bring fresh water into the city, it’s a stunning example of historic engineering that stretches across the skyline. Hard to believe something this massive has withstood earthquakes and centuries of change!

We decided to leave the Gnu at a truck stop for our day out in Lisbon—it felt ultra safe and was conveniently close to public transport. The only catch? Getting to the transit required a hilariously sketchy manoeuvre (once in the dark on the way back) but we made it!

Bubbles and beautiful tile patterns filled the squares—but those slick surfaces were no joke! A bit of foreshadowing from the other day came full circle when I took a full wipeout—hands, knee, and iPhone all hitting the ground. Strangely enough, the phone survived better than my knee (which, thankfully, is doing okay)!

Stopped by the Time Out Market to take it all in—so many delicious options and vibrant energy packed under one roof!

We finally found the umbrellas—on Lisbon’s famous Pink Street! Once part of the city’s red-light district, this vibrant spot is now a trendy hub for nightlife, cafés, and street art. The pops of colour and hanging umbrellas made it feel extra festive!

Green Street! This charming little lane added a splash of colour to our Lisbon wanderings. In this photo, you can spot our adventure buddy Arounna of “Bookhou” for the day—so much fun to meet up in another country and explore the city together!

This is the iconic Belém Tower—what a beauty, especially on a day with perfect weather! Originally built in the early 1500s to defend Lisbon’s harbour, it’s now a UNESCO World Heritage site and a stunning symbol of Portugal’s Age of Discovery.

Lisbon’s iconic cable cars (or trams) are just as cute in real life as you’d imagine! These vintage yellow trams have been navigating the city’s steep hills since the early 1900s and are still one of the most charming ways to explore the winding streets and scenic viewpoints.

One big, fun-filled day—and of course, it called for a celebratory selfie to capture the joy.

We finally found a funicular and rode it up with delight—only to be too tired from our day of exploring to wait for the ride back down. Haha, classic us!
