Travel Day to Goreme May 8

Relaxed mornings in bed have been rare on this trip so it was nice to relax on our final day on Çalis beach. We figured we had lots of time to get breakfast and coffee before getting picked up to head to the Dalaman airport. The lady at the front desk recommended us to a nearby hotel for breakfast. When we walked in there were two guys painting terra cotta pots mauve. It turned out that we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. Judi ordered and Cotty was craving a proper coffee so he headed down the beach to a restaurant that had an espresso machine. The making of the espresso took a long time and can only accurately described as a gong show. Cotty (near zero turkish and near zero experience with large commerical coffee grinders and espresso machines) had to teach the 'barista' how to grind beans and pour espresso. Two failed attempts had to be dumped down the sink. It was a true spectacle of incompetance but the story had a happy ending. Cotty hurried back to what he assumed would be cold menemen (turkish eggs) but it turned out that Judi was still waiting! She explained that our server at informed her that the eggs would be delayed because they were out of large tomatoes and the small tomatoes take much longer to chop up. Note there was only one person painting pots now and not two. Eventually the eggs came and we were able to make it back to the hotel just before Stephanie arrived seated in the back of a shiny black sedan. Our two flights were smooth and uneventful. We jumped in a van at Kayseri airport and arrived at the Chelebi Cave House in Goreme about an hour later. We were greeted by Veli and it didn't take long to fall in love with him. It was getting late and he was clearly tired as were we but he dug deep and began his introduction speech about the area. There was a couple asking many questions and Judi really loved it when one of his answers began to tail off and ended with 'blah, blah'. We were then led to our room and it looked amazing!Judi attempted to get some work done but Cotty was hungry so he headed out and ended up making friends with a resaturant owner and crashing a little birthday party for a 13 year old. Oops.
