Day 3 - Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ontario

Cotty couldn’t believe how many giant windmills there were in Minnesota. They all had red lights on them that blinked simultaneously.  Late last night we parked near a highway off ramp in eastern Minnesota.  There were a couple lights from a farm that were shining in so we broke out the sweet window shades and installed two of them. The gnu was much warmer than in Montana the night before. Again we awoke at sunrise and Judi started driving around 320am pacific time, 520am central. Sunshine soon turned to fog as we approached the Mississippi River which represents the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin.IMG 3758Our smooth travels took a turn for the worse in Illinois. Time for a multiple choice question:Driving in Illinois seemed to be endlessa) toll boothsb) construction zonesc) traffic congestiond) all of the above After a brief jaunt across the most narrow piece of the state of Indiana we entered Michigan. There were so many state troopers along the highway. Within three miles we saw two vehicles pulled over and both were being fully searched. We will re-enter Canada before dark tonight. That will mean we completed the US portion of the trip in well under 2.5 days (60 hours). I will close this entry with a picture of some beautiful american bugs. RIP.IMG 3762
