Nicaragua in ten days - Day 5 & 6 - Ometepe Feb 12-22, 2018
Early morning - we say goodbye to the mansion and head for the Garden Cafe one last time - I had a yummy smoothie and get a delicious iced coffee to go (after some effort). Then we walk to catch the chicken bus to Rivas. We met a Spanish girl from Madrid who had been traveling for 18months - she was helpful getting the right deal on the Taxi from Rivas to the ferry. Ferry was crowded and playing telenovelas.Ometepe is an island in a giant lake - it has two volcanos on it :)We were picked up at the ferry by a taxi that we shared with our new friend Bea. Eventually on after driving which felt like ages on the bumpiest of dirt roads we made it to Finca Mystica. We decided to have lunch (very yummy and massive) and right after we jumped on horses (for 3hrs) to ride up a mountain to see a waterfall. My horse was named Oro (gold) and Dar’s was called Colibrí (hummingbird). Our guide was named Aysir.Can you spot what is interesting about this tree?Pro tip: if you don’t ride horses regularly you may not want to start with a 3 hr trip after a decade long break ;) oucheeeeWe had the most delicious dinner - this coconut/lime chicken soup - monstrous portion.This cute baby (Sorrel) was handed to me in the morning - I managed to enjoy my delicious smoothy as well as this cutie pie.this is the view out the door to our cute room.After breakfast we hired a taxi for the day to take us around the island (our driver was named Minor)- it was a truck so we got to stand up in the back and be outside.Frist stop Charco Verdehow about this tree?there was a cool butterfly enclosure :) beautiful blue butterflies!here they are waiting to become butterflies :DNext stop Oja de Agua - for some cocoloco and swimming fun :D Dar in her natural element.the a pit stop for some lunch - I ended up eating the other half of my lunch from the Day before.El Pital by far my favourite spot we visitedthis craziness is vegan ice cream with fruit a chocolate ball and warm chocolate - it looks like a volcano :D soooooo yummyheaded back for dinner - I had the second 1/2 of my dinner from the night before it was still jut as yummy :DWe chatted with some of the other guest and also the staff (Ryan the owner, Victor and Orbin)- we even played a couple of games of bananagrams :D
